Day 01 : (Arrive Delhi)
Arrive into the capital in the late evening. After passing immigration and customs, meet with our representative and then take a 30-minute drive to the Imperial where accommodations are reserved for immediate occupancy.
Considered one of Asia's finest hotels, The Imperial is a New Delhi landmark. This elegant oasis was built and designed by Bromfield, an associate of Sir Edwin Lutyens.
Overnight in Delhi.

Day 02 : (In Delhi) - B, L
Breakfast at restaurant 1911.  After breakfast we join our guide riding on rickshaws for a visit of historical Delhi.  We trishaw through Chandni Chowk, past the Red Fort visiting Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque.  Continue on to Raj Ghat, a simple memorial that honors Mahatma Gandhi.

Lunch is at the Olive restaurant.
Afternoon we visit the city's earliest surviving monument Qutb mosque and minar (tower).  Our next stop is at the Tomb of Humayun, an early example of Mughal architecture.  En route to the hotel we drive around New Delhi with its majestic boulevards and grand government buildings.

Day 03 : (Delhi - Jodhpur) - B
We leave Delhi this morning and fly to Jodhpur.

Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rajput clan 'Rathores' and boasts one of the country's most spectacular fortress and palace complexes. It was from here that those baggie tight horse riding trousers 'jodhpurs' took their name.

We stay at the 'Raas' a charming boutique hotel that in many ways reflects the walled city.  Its sensational vistas offer a spectacular view of Meherangarh, rated in 2008 by Time Magazine as "Asia's Best Fortress".

This afternoon we drive up to the Meherangarh Fort and its Museum to see the Maharajas private collection of art and miniature paintings.

Day 04 : (Jodhpur - Rohet) - B
After breakfast, an opportunity to walk through the Walled City past local homes  and through bazaars laden with spices, grains, utensils and other household items.  In the interesting market square sits the towns hairstylist and barber and a local dentist.

Check-out after lunch and drive for an hour into the desert countryside to the luxurious 'Sun Fortress' Mihirgarh.

Day 05 : (In Rohet) - B
Our safari commences with a ride out into the desert terrain upto Dhoondli, a village of Brahmins, the priestly sect of hindus. An opportunity to witness some of the customs and traditions in the desert including the 'amal ka dastoor' or Opium Ceremony.

Continue on a 16k (3 hours) ride to the principality Rohet where lunch is served. Later, we return to Mihirgarh for an afternoon at leisure in this stunning resort.

Dinner and overnight at Mihirgarh.

Day 06 : (Rohet - Sardar Samand) - B, L, D
We take a five hour ride over 28k to Sardar Samand through sandy tracts and scrubland passing quaint hamlets occupied by various colorfully clad tribes of the desert.

A former hunting retreat of the Maharaja of Jodhpur, this Art Deco palatial mansion was built in 1933 on the banks of Sardar Samand Lake and affords picturesque views of the water and open country around.

Lunch and the rest of the day is at leisure. We may choose to take a walk in the village below or simply relax in the comfortable rooms or terrace pool overlooking the birdlife on the lake. The views at sunset are amazing.

Day 07 : (Sardar Samand - Kotri) - B, L, D
Breakfast and the morning is at leisure. After an early lunch, we take a two hour drive into the countryside to a Rabaria village. Here, we mount up and ride 15k (3 hours) through low foothills to Kotri, a small shepherds village set against a rocky hill. After tea, we transfer to the Kotri Raola, a 250 year old castle and ancestral residence of our Trail Boss and nobility of Ghanerao.

Day 08 : (In Kotri) - B, L, D
Following breakfast, our safari rides past open farmland on its 3 hour and 16k journey to Muthana bird lake. After refreshments, we board jeeps and drive to the merchant town of Sadri en route to Maharani Bagh or Queens's orchard where lunch is served.

In the afternoon, we visit the amazing Jain temples at Ranakpur, situated in the remote and peaceful Aravali valley. Amongst the five holy sites of the Jain religion this is one of the best temple complexes in the country. The most famous in Ranakpur is "Adinath" which has 29 halls supported by 1444 pillars - no two of which are alike.

Returning to our horses we ride back to Kotri taking a different route.

Day 09 : (Kotri - Narlai) - B, L, D
We ride past open farmland into the rocky hills of Narlai covering 15k.

We stay at the 17th century Rawla Narlai in the ancient village dominated by a gigantic 350 ft high single rock of granite dotted with caves and temples.
Overnight at Rawla Narlai.

Day 10 : (Narlai - Udaipur) - B
This morning, we ride past tribal Garasia villages and farms along the Aravalli range and enter the Kumbhalgarh wildlife sanctuary up a steep train ascending 2000 ft to the Aodhi.

Following lunch, we bid farewell to our horses and drive to the lakeside city of Udaipur, visiting the Kumbhalgarh fort en route.

Udaipur, or the city of 'sunrise' that combines real beauty with a picturesque association of a great and glorious past. 

We stay at the iconic Lake Palace where you arrive by boat !
Overnight in Udaipur.

Day 11 : (In Udaipur) - B
Following  breakfast, sail across to inspect the massive  City Palace,  crowning a ridge in  which  the  city  clusters   along  the  lake.  We walk through the maze of reception halls and inner courts the most elaborate being 'Mor Chowk' or Peacock Court.

We continue on to Lok Kala Mandal with its unique collection of handmade puppets and display of tribal costumes.

We return to the Lake Palace in the afternoon with options to further explore the city and its many narrow and twisting by lanes of the Old City.

At sunset embark on a boat ride on Lake Pichola, sailing by high towers and turrets and old havelis with their cupolaed balconies.

I stood in ecstasy on the sublime panorama spread out at my feet ... it resembled one of the fairy cities in the Arabian Nights.

Return to the Lake Palace for the overnight. 

Day 12 : (Udaipur - Delhi - Home) - B
The morning is at leisure to enjoy this unique hotel and its spa.

Later in the evening, we take a flight returning to the capital for our onward journey home.
On arrival, we are met and transferred to the international terminal in conjunction with our departure flight timing.
